*Basic Backgrounds*
This is how to insert a background on your community pages from an
MSN Communities Photo Album .
First of all, you choose the background that you want from your
photo album and open it up fully by clicking on it:
Right click when open fully and scroll down to properties.
Click on properties,
and when the dialog box opens, you see the background url.
Highlight that, making sure you scroll all the way down
to get it all, then use Ctrl+C to copy it.
There are two methods you can use to insert your background:
~Method 1~
Go to your message reply window, or new custom page and use the insert table icon.
For a basic table with no borders,
choose rows and columns 1, cell padding and spacing 0 and borders 0.
When you get to the background tab, put your cursor into the space where it says
background URL, and use Ctrl+V to paste it in.
Click on insert table, and a small box with your bg in appears.
Start typing in it, or insert pictures, and
the background will enlarge for you .
~Method 2~
{and the one I use personally}
If you want your background not to side scroll whatever your screen resolution,
go to your new custom page,
and put a tick in the box that says "Use HTML to create your page"
(which you will find at the bottom left of your editing window),
and then paste in the following code between <\div> and <\/div>:
<\TABLE width="100%" border=0>
<\BODY>
<\TR>
<\TD background=Bg url goes here>
Paste in your background url after the words background= and just before the last> tag.
Remove the tick from the HTML box, and the normal editing window will reappear.
Continue to edit your page as normal,
but if you use very wide gifs, these will stretch your page.
Make sure your graphics are no wider than 600 pixels maximum, preferably less,
and all should be well.
You can alter the table border width and colour to suit your page,
plus you can make use of cell padding and spacing:
The default is 1 for both but I often like to use 5 or 10.
Don't be afraid to experiment!
